ReCarbon commissions pilot plant at Daegu, South Korea

ReCarbon, Inc. reached a significant milestone, taking its technology out of the lab and into a real world application at its inaugural pilot plant in Daegu, South Korea.

ReCarbon commissioned a module of its 72 X 1kW Emission Blade Plasma Carbon Conversion Unit (PCCU) at the Daegu municipal landfill, utilising carbon dioxide from the landfill gas generated by organic solid waste, and methane. Through its patented microwave plasma technology the greenhouses are converted into syngas, with the hydrogen component separated through a pressure swing adsorption system capable of 99.99% purity hydrogen being filled into a stationary hydrogen fuel cell power plant through a hydrogen purification unit.

A consortium of stakeholders, including local, provincial and federal government, hydrogen fuel cell and other technology providers, and investors were involved in this ground-breaking project.
